To Williams, or Not To Williams, That Is the Question...

Please join us to review AB 599 (2021) and its amendments to Education Code Section 1240! Although effective January 1, 2022, the legislation has recently begun to impact charter schools identified for additional monitoring. We will review the criteria for making the California Department of Education's ""Williams List"" and discuss how your school can avoid being identified for future monitoring. We will also review how county offices of education may investigate schools within their jurisdiction on matters such as:
- Teacher misassignments and vacancies,
- Sufficiency of instructional materials
- Condition of school facilities
- Accuracy of data reported on school accountability report cards

And last but not least, we will discuss the connection between AB 599 and the historic Eliezer Williams v. State of California case and subsequent legislation commonly referred to as the Williams Act.
