Beyond the Basics: Charter Teacher Credentialing Compliance in 2026-27

Participants will be able to stay ahead of the curve in charter teacher credentialing in this practical, collaborative session designed for both newcomers and seasoned professionals. The presenters will cover current credentialing requirements and recent updates, then go further on the hard stuff: - When should you use a Local Assignment Option (LAO)? - Which LAOs are really the most practical, and what are the limits? - How do emergency permits actually work in practice (including Provisional Internship Permits (PIPs), Short-Term Staff Permits (STSPs), and Temporary County Certificates (TCCs))? - Where do schools commonly get tripped up? - What are the boundaries on intern credentials, and how do schools stay compliant when staffing is tight? Together, the participants will unpack CalSAAS, Assignment Monitoring Outcome (AMO) reports, the Williams List, and how these accountability systems intersect. They will work through real-world credentialing puzzles and leave with compliance checklists, practical tools, and proven strategies to implement immediately. Whether a program is seat-based, independent study, or both, participants are encouraged to bring their credentialing questions.
