Governance Training Certificate
The CSDC Conference provides a great opportunity for your board members to progress towards CSDC’s Governance Training Certificate.
The Governance Training Certificate is a flexible yet comprehensive training for new and returning California charter school board members.
It can also provide specialized training for charter school board members who must satisfy certificate-based requirements required by some California charter school authorizers.
Here’s how your board members can earn this certificate through the conference:
Attend Conference Sessions
From the “School Leadership & Governance” strand, attend:

3 qualifying breakout sessions (minimum)

Reserve your spot in one of Wednesday’s select workshops, geared towards empowering governing board members.

Complete AB 2158 Ethics Training

Complete your mandated AB 2158 Ethics:
- At the Conference: Attend CSDC’s AB 2158 Ethics and Brown Act Training workshop or
- Before/After the Conference: CSDC Members can take CSDC’s training, AB 2158 Ethics,* and complete an assessment to meet both the state-mandated requirement and the requirement for the Governance Training Certificate.
Complete a Brown Act Training
- Complete CSDC’s Brown Act Training:
- At the Conference: Attend CSDC’s AB 2158 Ethics and Brown Act Training workshop or
- Before/After the Conference: CSDC Members can take CSDC’s online training, Brown Act Training,* and complete an assessment to meet both some authorizer-mandated requirements and the requirement for the Governance Training Certificate.
